Observation Using Biological Drawings

10/28/2021

Biological drawings are used to communicate microscopic and macroscopic observations. Biology 11 students use a checklist to ensure that their drawings are accurate, clear, well labelled, and easy to understand. Drawings must be proportional and include magnification and scale.
Here is an example that was drawn during our recent Protist Lab. Students observed living organisms and prepared microscope slides from the Kingdom Protista.  This one is from the genus Spirogyra, a common filamentous, plant-like protist living in our local ponds.
