Model United Nations - CAPMUN 2020 - OttawaIn late February, OSSD students attended the Model United Nations held at Ottawa University. They had an opportunity to play the roles of country delegates or characters in various scenarios. Some of the committees included: General Assembly on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, Specialized Agency on The Canadian Railway, Conference on the Regulation of Cybernetics (2035), UNFCCC Glasgow 2020, and a Crisis Committee in the Harry Potter Universe. Students attended committee meetings, learned negotiation skills and participated in a panel lunch focusing on Careers in International Relations. The students practiced their research, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. A special congratulations goes to one student who was awarded best position paper in the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
